Contraception

By identifying and becoming aware of the fertile signs in your own cycle, you can use the methods as a very effective contraceptive method, with no side effects. Contrary to popular belief, these methods when taught well and followed well are only 0.5% less effective than the strongest oral contraceptive pill. This method is ideal for women prepared to put in some effort for the first few cycles until a pattern is more established. In the future women can then use the methods to help aid in an easier conception, as they will know exactly when they are fertile and be alot more in tune with their body's natural signs of fertility. On the odd occasion problems have been detected in charting, which means this can be addressed prior to conception.
Infertility
When combined with other naturopathic modalities, the Natural Fertility Methods can also help in gaining further insight into a womans fertile signs and hormonal balance. Often problems can be detected via charting as it's a day by day look at what's happening and an alternative way of viewing the menstrual cycle. Once remedies have been prescribed we can use the charting to determine the progress and results of the remedies and to guide us in treatment. It's interesting to note that it has been found that women who chart their cycles and are aware of their fertile signs, generally conceive up to 50% faster than woman who don't.
Preconception Care
Most couples spend more time, money and effort on planning a wedding or buying a house than planning for a healthy baby. Although more often than not nature does get it right and makes a healthy baby, you can take steps to vastly increase the chances of this happening. The sperm that will make your baby can take between 76-116 days to form and the ova up to 100 days. Anything you do in this time prior to conception can effect the outcome and health of your baby. Preconception care needs to start at least 4 months prior to conception, with both partner addressing their own health including toxicity and nutrient levels. Women also learn to chart their menstrual cycles, in order to become aware of when they are fertile, and also as a means of picking up any hormonal imbalances so they can be corrected. Women tend to have much better pregnancies and birth when nutrient levels are high and babies tend to be a healthy weight, have better sleep patterns, immune and digestive systems and are less likely to suffer normal childhood health complaints. This is a proactive step any couple can invest in for their baby's future health.
