Relaxation massage aims to reduce mental stress, physical tension and improve the clients’ general sense of wellbeing. The ultimate aim is put the client into a heightened state of relaxation.

Swedish massage uses a range of different techniques including long, gliding strokes (effleurage), kneading manipulations, skin rolling, compressions (petrissage), tapping, pummelling and cupping (tapotement). All of the movements are brought together to deliver a fluent and highly rejuvenating experience.

Swedish massage is not to be mistaken with remedial massage; a deep tissue massage including manipulation of the musculoskeletal system.

swedish.jpgThe use of therapeutic touch as a healing tool can be traced for hundreds of years in many different cultures. Nowadays in our non-stop lifestyles, we rarely have time for ourselves. This is why massage can be so important, i.e. it allows us to take ‘time-out’, encourages deep relaxation, releases stress and tension and most importantly allows us to experience the benefits of therapeutic touch.

Swedish massage encourages better blood and oxygen circulation around the whole body and peripheries, and may release toxins that can build up in body tissue and muscles. It is therefore recommended to drink filtered water and/or herbal tea after the massage to encourage the removal of these impurities. At Natremed, the incorporation of essential oils with your massage ensures your experience is personalised. The oils can be selected either by their therapeutic actions or purely for their unique scents, which ever you’d prefer.

One or half hour full body, or half-hour half body massages are available.
