The infrared sauna heats you up using Infrared radiant heat. In this way the infrared sauna differs from a conventional steam sauna by providing a dry environment. The infrared waves enter the body and gently raise core body temperature (in a simular way to sitting in the sun on a warm day). This causes you to sweat and therefore eliminate waste/toxins from the body.

When you are having an infrared sauna you are clearing dirt from your pores, organs and therefore strengthening your immune system. Afterwards you may feel a greater sense of calm or relaxation or even a little sleepy. Sometimes people can feel a little light headed (due to loss of minerals from sweating but the electrolyte drink provided will reduce this effect).

Why should I try the Infrared Sauna?

hotbox-small1.jpgInfrared saunas remove toxins from the body. Some toxins include heavy metals, alcohol and  nicotine. When toxins accumulate in the body, the lymphatics and circulation channels will become blocked you will experience symptoms of autointoxication. The sauna acts to dilate the clogged capillaries, so the toxins can be mobilised and eliminated via sweat and urine. Therefore infrared saunas are a fabulous addition to any detoxification program and can be a useful part of immune, cardiovascular, skin and metabolic health, as well as a great stress relief.

Infrared sauna can be used by those with respiratory problems (asthma etc) as the air itself is not heated, like in a damp steam sauna environment.

What is provided during my treatment?

  • Sauna (each treatment is 30 minutes)
  • Towel
  • Electrolyte drink (To replace electrolytes that can be lost during sweating. This can be taken during or after your sauna).

Before the treatment:

Ensure you are well hydrated before you start your treatment. This will allow you to get the best results and ensure you are not dehydrated after sweating away all your toxins.

After the treatment:

  • hotbox-small2.jpgRelax in the library
  • Zen Chi:  book into use the Zen Chi machine to further increase the lymphatic flow which aids the removal of wastes in the body.
  • Enjoy a cup of herbal tea
  • Do not shower for up to 1 hour after your sauna. This timeframe is given so that your body can cool it self down naturally. This is important as it ensures that your pores (that have opened up during the sauna and released toxic waste) can close and that the toxins will not be washed back and trapped in your body.
