Sprout Power

Sprouts are the pinnacle of the life cycle of a plant, and are therefore filled with vitality and bursting with nutrition. Sprouts can be made from legumes, seeds or grains. The sprouting process breaks down the starches and makes the protein more available and therefore easy to digest and assimilate. Rich in vitamins, minerals and fibre, sprouts are a delicious and cheap addition to any meal, raw or cooked.

Seminars Series and Cooking Classes - April

Yoga: Term Two Schedule

What can I expect from a class? The asanas (postures) are usually taught in flowing sequences. Each week is different. Some postures can be quite strong; however there will always be a modification for beginners. You can expect to leave the class feeling energised and refreshed, but calm and relaxed.

Morning classes: Practicing yoga early in the morning awakens the mind and energises the body preparing you for the day ahead. You will carry the sense of calmness and clarity with you throughout the day. It is a fantastic way to start the day!

Evening classes: Yoga at night helps to remove the day’s tension; both physical and mental. Moving at the end of the day is much more beneficial than slouching on the couch. It will dissolve stress and tension from any part in the body, massage digestive organs to help process the day’s food intake and help induce a peaceful mind for a restful nights sleep.

Beginners are always welcome.

Class schedule: Tuesday night; 6-7pm , Wednesday morning: 7-8am Term 2: 20th April – 23rd June. Classes run during school terms (Term 2 = 11 weeks). Please contact Melissa (mcloney@natremed.com.au) or Natremed reception for more info/bookings.

Pearls of Wisdom

Without A Net:  Living Life With Trust

As we create the life of our dreams, we often reach a crossroads where the choices seem to involve the risk of facing the unknown versus the safety and comfort of all that we have come to trust. We may feel like a tightrope walker, carefully teetering along the narrow path to our goals, sometimes feeling that we are doing so without a net. Knowing we have some backup may help us work up the courage to take those first steps, until we are secure in knowing that we have the skills to work without one. But when we live our lives from a place of balance and trust in the universe, we may not see our source of support, but we can know that it is there.

If we refuse to act only if we can see the safety net, we may be allowing the net to become a trap as it creates a barrier between us and the freedom to pursue our goals. Change is inherent in life, so even what we have learned to trust can surprise us at any moment. Remove fear from the equation and then, without even wondering what is going on below, we can devote our full attention to the dream that awaits us.

We attract support into our lives when we are willing to make those first tentative steps, trusting that the universe will provide exactly what we need. In that process we can decide that whatever comes from our actions is only for our highest and best experience of growth. It may come in the form of a soft landing, an unexpected rescue or an eye-opening experience gleaned only from the process of falling. So rather than allowing our lives to be dictated by fear of the unknown, or trying to avoid falling, we can appreciate that sometimes we experience life fully when we are willing to trust and fall. And in doing so, we may just find that we have the wings to fly.

When we believe that there is a reason for everything, we are stepping out with the safety net of the universe, and we know we will make the best from whatever comes our way.

Recipe of the Month: Marinated and Baked Tofu

  • 1 tsp crushed garlic
  • 1 tsp crushed ginger
  • ½ tsp tumeric
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 1 tbs water
  • 2 tbs soya sauce/tamari
  • 1pkt of firm tofu (organic)

Cut tofu into small 1cm cubes. Mix all other ingredients together in a bowl. Add the tofu, stir until well covered. Let it sit for at least 20mins. Bake in a pre-heated 180 degree oven for about 10mins or until golden brown.

Add tofu to hot/cold salads, stir-fry’s, etc.

Tofu acts like a sponge absorbing almost any flavour added to it and left to marinate. It doesn’t take long to soak up the flavour, but like anything, the longer it’s left, more intense the flavour. Play around with different flavours.
