Winter 2009
Dear [FIRSTNAME],
Winter is often associated with negativity – colds and flus, feeling cold, tired and lethargic, eating stodge, and an inability to get out of bed to exercise. But winter does not have to take this effect on you.
Winter can actually be a great time to improve your immunity. Raising your immunity over winter can be achieved by eating healthy soups and stews, making some lifestyle changes and slowing down to get some adequate rest.
Instead of associating winter with increased junk food & heavy hard to digest meals, begin to make some changes early – stay hydrated, eat plenty of fresh foods & begin to include warming spices such as turmeric, garlic, ginger and cumin to your dishes - use winter as a time to replenish your immune system.
If you have good dietary and lifestyles goals for each season, including winter, you can develop an established, ongoing state of immunity. So this winter, try giving your immunity a boost - and spend the cold season staying warm and healthy.

Sophie - New Hemaview Practioner
Sophie has recently trained in Hemaview, Live Blood Screening which is based on the science of hematology. This means patients can now have a small droplet of their blood examined for nutritional status during consultation. The red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets can all be seen on a monitor while the patient looks in amazement at their blood. This is a fabulously motivating tool, as the patient is often able to see positive changes to the health of their blood before symptom changes.
This exciting addition to Sophie's practice will now be incorporated into all new consultations with adults.

Pearls of Wisdom
Body Wisdom
A great deal of attention is given to the body these days. Health clubs, equipped with weight trainers and pilates sessions are popping up all over. Yoga and martial arts lessons are increasingly available through private studios as well as community classes. At the same time, disease and obesity statistics continue to climb. We all want healthy and attractive bodies, but seem unable to achieve our goals.
Once we join the gym, or sign up for that yoga class, we find out how difficult it is to keep up the practice. Is the same true in your spiritual life? Do you meditate sporadically and go to mass, vespers, or prayer meetings with a similar infrequency? Does your spiritual life resemble the characters you watch on television who indulge in negative practices rather pursuing a healthy lifestyle? Practice means just what it says. Practice is something that requires continuous repetition. It doesn’t just happen.
Making it happen takes discipline, something we aspire to instill in our children, but often forget to practice ourselves. What if you regarded your body as a temple? How would you spend time in that place of worship? Just as the church, synagogue, or ashram represents community worship, our bodies are our personal temples. When we give them enough sleep, exercise, healthy food, and peaceful meditation we are more likely to be in harmony with our highest aspirations.
Our body is our refuge and the medium though which our unique message can be channeled. The more we honor our bodies the better able they are to help us with our true work. How you treat your body reflects how you treat the world around you. Today, return to your spiritual practice by remembering that your body is a sacred temple. Sweep out the cobwebs of negative thought. Wash the windows so light can shine through. Bring a flowering thought to the altar of your soul and let a prayer sit on your lips. Wear a beautiful garden of clothes that make you feel good and remind you of your natural beauty. Light the candle in your heart to illuminate your life’s purpose and recognize the lit candle in the hearts of others. In that place of grace and gratitude, we are able to experience the blessings in our own lives and therefore the grace the lives in the world.
