News & Articles Articles The Birth of Elijah

There was obviously much anticipation in the lead up to the birth of my baby, with all my clients watching my belly slowly grow. So there was no surprise when Elijah was born that the blue balloons appeared out the front of Natremed; he is afterall Greg and Melynda's first grandchild.

Many of you have asked how the pregnancy went and are now asking about the birth. I stayed extremely well in the pregnancy with Our_familyno complications, which I attribute mostly to my months of preconception care including regular detoxification and nutritional preparation. I took daily supplements for the extra nutritional requirements of pregnancy, had regular shiatsu massage, continued weekly yoga practice until 38 weeks pregnant, spent lots of time catching up with friends and family, practiced relaxation and meditation regularly and of course joyously prepared for our new born with lots of sewing and knitting. No doubt this combination helped me stay well and happy throughout the pregnancy.

Before we were pregnant we had already decided that we wanted to have an independant midwife for all the antenatal care and to hopefully bith at home. Andrea Quanchi was a fabulous choice as she was able to do all our pregnancy check ups in our home, as well as attend our birth. I prepared for a positive birth experience with Nicole's Hypnobirthing classes, which allowed me to feel empowered and relaxed in the lead up to the birth, and focussed and free from fear during the birth. The experience was very intense and hard work, but I guess that's why they call it 'labour'. Our beautiful son was born into our arms free from intervention and with the love and peace of our home to be his only experience for the first week. What a miracle it is to be born!

Thankyou so much to the Natremed community of staff, friends and clients for all your encouragement, enthusiasm and congratulations. I'm sure you will see Eli and I around town, or hanging out in the Natremed garden soon.
